In 2010, Guadalupe Credit Union was designated as a Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI), recognizing our dedication to providing responsible, affordable lending to low-income, low-wealth, and underserved communities. In 2015, we received the Juntos Avanzamos designation, formally acknowledging our tailored financial products and services for Hispanic and immigrant communities.
History
Father Edward J. McCarthy established Guadalupe Credit Union in 1948 to serve the parishioners of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Santa Fe. Throughout the 1970s and 1980s, GCU expanded by merging with St. Anne's Credit Union, Health and Environment and Human Services Credit Union, and Cristo Rey Credit Union. These mergers broadened our membership to include much of the Santa Fe community. In 2016, we continued our growth by merging with St. Gertrude's Credit Union in Mora. Today, GCU is a not-for-profit financial cooperative proudly serving Northern New Mexicans of all faiths, professions, ages, and backgrounds. Our commitment to community and inclusion creates a welcoming environment for all.
