History

In 1940, 12 engineers at Hughes Aircraft, the aviation company formed by Howard Hughes, decided to open a credit union right in the plant. Each chipped in $5 to form the Hughes Aircraft Employees Federal Credit Union, with assets of $60 and first reported net income of one cent. The name Kinecta—suggesting kinetic energy and connection with our members—was formally adopted in 2001.
From its earliest days, the credit union’s mission was to be “the preferred and most trusted lifelong financial partner in the communities we serve.”
In 2021, Kinecta merged with Xceed Financial Credit Union, which grew out of Xerox Federal Credit Union and traces its history in the Rochester, NY, community back to 1931 when it was known as Rochester Postal Credit Union.

Kinecta Federal Credit Union proudly hosted International Credit Union Day at our Campus. The event brought together elected officials, community leaders and partner credit unions to celebrate the impact of member-owned financial institutions. From collaborative presentations to proclamations from local leaders, the day was a powerful reminder of how credit unions serve not just members, but entire communities.

Eighth annual Defying the Odds Black History Month event on Wednesday, February 25, 2026 empowering over 70 African American male students from eight local high school districts. The day featured mentorship, inspiration and career-focused discussions with accomplished African American male professionals.

Kinecta Federal Credit Union proudly joined the 17th Annual Skechers Pier to Pier Friendship Walk, uniting with thousands of supporters to raise over $3.2 million for youth programs, scholarships and children with special needs. The event was a true reflection of our shared commitment to community, inclusion and education, values that align perfectly with Kinecta’s mission to support and empower the next generation.
