For 90 years, Midwest Members Credit Union has been dedicated to empowering communities by providing accessible financial services that foster long-term well-being. Our commitment to our members goes beyond banking—we strive to create a lasting, positive impact on the lives of those we serve.
History
On January 15, 1935, eight employees from the Shell Refinery in Wood River, IL, came together to establish the Shell Wood River Federal Credit Union with a modest deposit of $57. Their goal was simple: to provide affordable financial services to Shell employees and their families. As the years passed, our membership expanded, welcoming new groups into our growing community.
For over 90 years, we've continually adapted, introducing innovative products and services, embracing advanced technology, and extending our reach to more communities eager to experience the credit union difference.
The foresight of our founding members to invest in the financial well-being of our communities laid a strong foundation. We take immense pride in that legacy and remain committed to honoring their vision by serving even more of our neighbors. We invite you to join us as we continue this journey, honoring the past and building a brighter future together.
