The Mower County Employees Credit Union was charted in 1961 as an exclusive benefit for employees of Mower County and their families.

History

The Mower County Employees Credit Union opened for official business transactions on March 15, 1961, operating out of the Court House of Mower County. Business hours were set to be open for 1 hour over the noon hour on Wednesdays. Our first organizational meeting was exciting for those in attendance and after ample discussion, the meeting did not end until 10:50 PM! Shortly after, the first official meeting of Directors was called to order lasting until the wee hours of the evening!

We started with seven memberships: Mr. Lake, Mr. Dugan, Mr. Anderson, Mr. Peterson, Mr. Scanlon, Mr. Schmid and Mr. Willinger. Today, we've grown to approximately 800 members, with some members as family descendants of those first few who eagerly joined! This tradition of membership has continued as new employees of Mower County join and pass along the benefits to their families. Our family tree continues to grow because of our long-standing mission to be an exclusive benefit to those we serve.
