For over 80 years, Scott Credit Union has been a full-service financial institution and provides services for individuals in 32 counties throughout Missouri and Illinois. Our members join SCU as owners and enjoy the benefits of credit union membership, including financial education, guidance for every stage of life, and community support.

History

Scott Credit Union was founded on May 28, 1943, by a group of visionaries from Scott Field (now Scott Air Force Base) who decided to create a local credit union where the average person could save and borrow money.

Long before our members enjoyed Scott Credit Union online and mobile banking services, 27 civil service employees at Scott Air Force Base started a simple financial cooperative. The Scott Field Civilian Employees’ Credit Union limited the initial membership to civil servants within the Army Air Force Technical Training Command at what was then known as Scott Field. Our ties to the military remain strong. Over time, our membership has grown to include 32 counties in Missouri and Illinois, and nearly 150,000 members who are both military and civilians.

Over the past 16 years, SCU has contributed financial donations of over $4 million and our employees have volunteered more than 25,000 hours to a variety of community efforts and charitable causes in Illinois and Missouri. At SCU, our focus is on serving as the local credit union that gives back to our neighborhoods and communities every day.
