Southern Coastal is a not-for-profit, democratically controlled, member-owned, financial cooperative established in 1973. The credit union provides a safe and convenient place for members to save and borrow at favorable rates of interest.

History

Biloxi Mayor, Jerry O'Keefe saw his employees' need for a safe harbor to save money. In August 1973, the Biloxi Municipal Credit Union, was chartered by the State of Mississippi for the sole purpose of meeting those employees' needs. We have now grown to include several employee groups across South Mississippi.

We expanded our field of membership in 2010 to include the City of D'Iberville and Harrison County. To reflect our expanded FOM we changed our name to Coastal Credit Union. In 2017, Coastal Credit Union converted from a state chartered to a federally chartered credit union and changed our name to Southern Coastal Federal Credit Union.
