History
The rich history of Valley First Credit Union dates back to 1949 when a group of seven employees formed the Stanislaus County Employees Federal Credit Union. Over the next several years Gallo Employees Federal Credit Union and Gallo Glass Federal Credit Union were also formed. The two Gallo credit unions merged and then in 1999, those organizations combined with Stanislaus County Employees Federal Credit Union and opened their first branch in Modesto, California as Valley First Credit Union.
Today, Valley First Credit Union has more than $833 million in assets under management, representing the growth and continued commitment to the financial lives of consumers in the Central Valley of California.
In September 2021, Valley First Credit Union earned Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) designation. CDFIs are mission-driven financial institutions that are dedicated to providing financial services to meet the needs of economically disadvantaged individuals within underserved communities.

Team members participate in many charitable events and causes throughout the year including Love Modesto - a community-wide volunteer day with multiple projects supported. In 2021, Valley First contributed $180,000 and volunteer hours equivalent to 76 work days to the communities we serve.
